Thought I’d share my personal rope halters story with all of you:
The ups, the downs, all the stuff I tried – what didn’t work and finally how I came to be the founder of Hippie Halters, bringing the most beautiful, custom made rope halters to the masses.
I began using rope halters after my mother introduced me to Natural Horsemanship. I found that the rope halter offered a better, more natural form of communication between me and my horse. I even threw the bit away and began riding with just a rope halter and lead line!
I, however, went through many rope halters that didn’t fit properly – some were too big, with the fiador knot hanging too low under my horse’s jaw. Others were too small, with the cheek pieces laying too tight against my horse’s delicate facial nerves.
When my trainer finally asked me to get a new rope halter for my horse, I decided to tie my own to ensure a proper fit! Ever since then, I’ve been tying custom made rope halters – and not just for my horse…
I make all kinds of rope halters, in all kinds of sizes and colors – for all kinds of horses! And I call them – Hippie Halters

Demand for my custom made rope halters was becoming pretty intense, so Hippie Halters was created for the sole purpose of designing a rope halter like no other in the industry.

Rope halters, used in conjunction with leads, are communication tools between you and your horse. Using pressure and release signals, you can guide and direct your horse’s movements. These signals come directly through the lead rope to the halter, and can be done with an amazing level of subtlety. Communicating with your horse in this way can be very effective, as long as your rope halter fits correctly.
